Day 75 - Thursday 19 July 2012

Broome

Up early again this morning to take the Navara to Novus for a new winscreen, and was given a ride back to the caravan park. While we waited for a call from Novus Di gave the van a clean up outside to remove the red dust, and David worked on a number of small repairs that had built up in the last couple of weeks. We had planned to change the the anode in the gas hot water heater, but had sent the socket wrench off in the Navara.

We have noticed a large 5th wheeler in the caravan park with a couple of pop-top sections in the roof - a double decker 5th wheeler?

About 10:30 am we got the call that the windscreen replacement was finished, as well as the good news that they would come a pick us up to collect it.

After lunch we drove to the Chinatown area of Broome to look at the sights and check out the shops. We walked through Johnny Chi Lane and Shady Lane whch have the usual tourist shops and clothing shops. We also had a look at the Pearling Lugger display where the last two pearling luggers to operate from Broome are displayed onshore. The Sam Male was originally launched as the Kimberley Male in 1958, so is a year younger than our yacht Moorina. Di had a look in a couple of pearl shops, but thinks that the good stuff is too expensive.
