Another day in Townsville

Day 58 - Sunday 7 July 2013

The weather is nice again today - high 20's and mainly sunny. After breakfast we drove into the City for the Sunday Markets in the Mall. For a moment I thought that we were standing outside the AFL Bombers social club - then I realised that it was the Cowboys Rugby Leagues Club.

The stalls are a mixture of arts and crafts with a few fruit and veg stalls, as well as homemade jams and pickles. Di bought a silver bangle made from a fork as well as a few tubs of pickles. David found that the Camera House store was open and bought a flash unit for his camera - a Metz Mecablitz 44 AF - 1 digital flash for Pentax cameras. Still made in Germany - must be good!

After walking around the market it was back to John and Chris's apartment for lunch. We were joined by Tom and Chace, with their children Liberty and Chelsea. They had driven up from Ayr (about 90 kms away) where they now live.

After lunch we adjourned to the balcony and watched a fly over by a Hawk Jet Trainer that was putting on a performance for the V8 Supercars. The photos of the Hawk Jet Trainer were something of a challenge for the 70-300 mm zoom lens on the Pentax camera. For the benefit of the camera buffs the first photo was taken at 210 mm, F7.1, 1/800 sec at ISO 100, while the second was taken at 300 mm, F5.6, 1/640 sec, at ISO 100. The best way to view the photos is in the Photo Gallery - select large size.
