Cruising around Bowen
Day 62 - Thursday 11 July 2013
12.07.2013
We have now been on the road for two months and are just over half way on distance for this trip. After breakfast we decided to go for a walk around Bowen, starting with the Information Centre for maps and general info on the sights to see around Bowen. Next stop was the newsagent then back to Jochheims Bakery, famous in this part of the world for their home made meat pies. However no pies for us, so we had our usual morning coffees before buying a nice fresh baguette for our lunch.
Back at camp David made some caravan park bookings for the next couple of weeks - Cape Palmerstone for 3 nights, Rocky for 3 nights, Bundaberg for 2 nights, then Dicky Beach at Caloundra for a week. See you on the 21st Frosty - we will finally catch up.
After lunch we did a Cooks Tour of the local area starting with Horseshoe Bay and nearby Grays Bay to see what we had missed. We must have missed seeing Kevin 747 as they had the warning signs out! We then drove around to Rose Bay before heading back to Flagstaff Hill to take in the views - no flagstaff on the Hill however. On the way back from Flagstaff hill we called in at the NQCYC to check out the yachts in the Marina - while a few were on a small floating marina, most were moored for and aft on piles, necessitating dinghies to access the boats.
