Cape Palmerston to Rockhampton
Day 68 - Wednesday 17 July 2013
17.07.2013
We were packed up and on the road by 9:00 am for our 271 kms trip from Cape Palmerston to Rockhampton. Southbound traffic was reasonably light although the northbound traffic was a little heavier. We stopped for a coffee break in a rest area near Marlborough and eventually arrived at the Riverside Tourist Park at 1:00 pm. It was just as well that we had booked ahead as the park was fully booked. We were allocated a grassy site for 2 days.

After doing a full set-up we walked across the bridge over the Fitzroy River to the City Centre about 1 km away. We stopped at a newsagent for the Australian, the Post Office to pick up our latest batch of mail, a coffee shop for coffee with muffins, and finally the Information Centre for maps and suggestions for sights to see tomorrow. Rockhampton is bursting at the seams with US and Australian servicemen who are here for joint exercises Talisman Sabre that started on Monday.
