Rutherglen to Melbourne

Day 121 - Tuesday 10 September 2013

Rutherglen was cool and cloudy this morning with a forecast temperature range of 6 to 17 degrees. The forecast for Melbourne was partly cloudy with a shower and a temperature range of 9 to 17 degrees.

Early this morning there was a little very fine misty rain but it had cleared up by the time we came to pack up. We got away about 9:00 am for our 290 km trip to Melbourne via the Hume Freeway and the Western Ring Road and stopped in a rest area at about 11:00 am for a morning coffee. We arrived at the Ashley Gardens Caravan Park in Braybrook at about 1:00 pm and checked in for 4 nights. We are on a drive through site and we did a fairly basic set-up without the awning as the weather is a little cool and showery (it must be Melbourne) and we don't expect to be sitting outside.

That evening we went into the City to meet Kirrily for dinner at Il Bacaro, a very nice Italian restaurant in Little Collins Street. We all had porcini mushrooms for entrée, Kirrily had pasta with Moreton Bay Bugs, Di had veal with a lentil based sauce, and David Back-strap of rabbit rolled and stuffed, and wrapped in prosciutto. The waiter suggested a Ulithorne 2010 Frux Frugis Shiraz from McLaren Vale - an excellent choice. We finished off with a shared cheese platter. All in all an excellent meal made better when Kirrily shouted as she had recently received a bonus and was feeling flush with funds.

No photos today.

Hi Di and David,
It was 30.9 at the Broadwater Tourist park today.

Frosty.

Showers with a cool breeze in Melbourne. Snow in Hobart that we are not looking forward to. Make the most of the heat. You will be heading south soon.
