Southport - Day 4
Day 51- Sunday 17 August 2014
16.08.2014
Mainly sunny and 23 degrees today. Thankfully the rain stopped at 5:00 am. Between 10:00 am yesterday and 5:00 am this morning we had 85.6 mm of rain - the weather Bureau had forecast 30 to 50 mm.
We spent the morning dragging all our mats out from under the awning to dry them out. Our site is on a slight slope and the water had stopped soaking into the sand and ended up running under our awning. It only took a couple of hours to dry out the mats and we are now back to normal.
After lunch we decided to go to Carrara to check out the markets. The Carrara Markets are open on Saturday and Sunday and claim to be the largest market in Australia with 500 stalls. Di found a Jewellery stall, and you guessed it - she had to make a purchase or two. Worse still she has a card for the main shop in Surfers Paradise.
On the way back into the caravan park we noticed a budget roof mounted satellite disk comprising a folding dish the same as ours held in place on the roof with a container full of water.
