Southport - Day 5

Day 52 - Monday 18 August 2014

Mainly sunny with a maximum temperature of 21 degrees, but quite breezy with a 15 knot westerly blowing for most of the day.

After breakfast we did the rounds of some of our favourite spots, Bunnings for a large tarpaulin to fit under the annexe when it arrives and some tent pegs, Spotlight for oven mits and wool needles, Officeworks for a storage basket, and Woollies for groceries.

After lunch we went for a walk along the edge of the Broadwater to Anzac Park. We walked past the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre which will host the swimming during the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The venue will be tested during the Pan Pacs Swimming this weekend, albeit with a lot of temporary seating on scaffolding wrapped in blue plastic. It will be a bit breezy in the back row of the temporary grandstands.
