Southport - Day 15

Day 62 - Thursday 28 August 2014

It rained again overnight - 9.8 mm since 9:00 am the previous day. While the rain has stopped it is however very windy - forecast is 20 knots gusting to 30 knots. The maximum gust was 40 knots at 11:30 am this morning.

Overnight we had a leak at one end of the awning/annexe, so we have restored our funnel and plastic pipe to drain any water away. We spent most of the morning responding to every creak and groan of our new annexe, worried (needlessly as it turned out) about its survival. At one stage the awning came out of its anti flapper clip system and Frosty came over to render assistance in restoring order. Thanks Frosty!

During the afternoon the winds slowly eased, with gusts reducing to about 25 knots, so we felt that we could go for a drive without our awning blowing away while we were abent! Not that we went far - we only drove out to the Spit to look at the seas and wave activity. It seems that the seas had abated somewhat, earlier in the day the seas at Currumbin and Kirra Point had been 5 metres during the morning.

At about 5:00 pm we drove up to our club - Club Southport - to find that Frosty and Marg had beaten us and staked a claim - their club they say! Once again we had the Schooner and Pizza special for $10.00. I think that we have a convert - Frosty is threatening to give up the Mixed Grill and switch to the Pizza Special - especially when he gets half of Marg's Pizza. We all enjoyed the meal and a few drinks while we were there.

Thanks for your company at dinner.
I am now a convert to the pizza and beer. $10 you can't beat it.

Frosty.

PS: Whose club is it? I thought that we found it before you did. :)
