Tallebudgera Creek - Day 13 - Brisbane Caravan Show

Friday 10 June 2016

Another beautiful day in paradise - sunny and 24 degrees.

Today we were up early for an 8:30 am departure from the caravan park to catch the train from Varsity Lakes for the Brisbane Caravan Show. Colin and Merle from the Site across the road came with us. Being a work day for those that still work we had to park in the over-flow car-park at the station.
We caught the 9:10 am train and changed at Roma Street Station for the Show Train to take us to the Ekka. All up it took about 2 1/2 hours to make the journey but it is loads better than driving yourself and trying to park in Brisbane. The best bit is that train travel is included in the entry price for the Caravan Show, which at $15.00 for Seniors is a bargain.

Once into the Show we split up and went our own way, planning to meet up for lunch, and then meet up again for the return trip to the caravan park. We had an excellent pub lunch of flat-head and chips with salad under the main Grandstand on the Oval.

We spent the day wandering around the Show looking at the latest caravans for sale as well as all the stands selling accessories. We resisted the temptation to buy anything, but Di was particularly interested in the latest bathrooms in the newer caravans, as she would like to replace our hand-basin and update the en-suite in our caravan.

One of the highlights was the Trailblazer stand where had a look at the latest 5th wheel caravan on offer as well as a slide-on camper and truck camper toy hauler. As usual Frosty was on the stand helping Phil promote Trailblazer products generally and 5th wheel caravans in particular.

By about 3:00 pm we had had enough and made our way to the Showground Station for the return trip to Varsity Lakes via Roma Street where we changed trains for the Gold Coast Line, eventually arriving back at the caravan park at about 5:30 pm. At 9:00 hours it was a long day.
