Melbourne Day 2

Friday 15 September 2017

Still cloudy and cool in Melbourne with periods of heavy rain forecast.

We spent the morning packing up so that we could return to the caravan park and get organised for a quick get away on Saturday morning as we were booked on a day sailing departing at 9:00 am with check-in starting at 6:30 am. When we left the apartment the lifts were still out of action so we had to negotiate the fire stairs with our bags. I think that walking down is worse than walking up stairs. (We were still stiff in the quads 3 days later).

While we were packing up and hitching up, a 45 foot 5th wheeler came onto the next site, It was a very big van as hitched up we only make 42 feet. They were the first of the arrivals for the Melbourne Show which is due to open on 23 September. While we were packing up there were a couple of heavy showers, so it was not looking good for the footy tonight.

Late afternoon we headed back into the city so that we could join Kirrily and Ian at the MCG for the Geelong vs Sydney AFL game. They had bought the tickets as a birthday present for David, and were feeling quite comfortable that their team the Swans would have the measure of the Cats after Geelong's poor performance against Richmond the week before. They were to be disappointed however as Geelong never looked like losing. Fortunately the rain held off for the game.

After the game we walked back into the city to pick up a cab to return to Braybrook for the night.
