Day 55 - Friday 29 June 2012

Denham

We awoke this morning to a fine clear blue sky. Di did a few loads of washing while David set up the satellite dish. The only digital channels were the ABC - and only 7, 9, and SBS on analogue. No channel 10 so we decided to set up the satellite dish to give us the full complement. With a clear blue sky and no trees we soon had a good picture from the satellite. Mid morning we set off for a walk along the waterfront to get the Australian and have a coffee. As we left the caravan park we noticed that they had no vacancies for caravans.

No Australian today so had to make do with the West Australian, which has more paper and less content than the Hobart Mercury - it really is a rubbish newspaper! We called into the visitor centre and bought some passes for Monkey Mia tomorrow and also booked a cruise on the Aristocat, a 60 ft catamaran that does a 3 hour Dugong and Dolphin cruise.

Back at the caravan park we had an early lunch - corned beef sandwiches - then went for a drive to explore the local area. We went to the Town Lookout, which is too far from town for a useful view, Ocean Park - but baulked at paying $19 each to watch a few sharks being fed in an aquarium. We continued along the coast and checked out some of the 24 hour camping spots from Camps 6.

After dinner we settled back to watch the Carlton Hawthorn game in real time on 7 Central - another poor performance from Carlton!
