Mallacoota to Bairnsdale

Cloudy again today with more rain forecast for our trip of 230 km to Bairnsdale. While we had the occasional try at a shower the trip was uneventful.
We stopped at Orbost for fuel and a coffee and a muffin to keep us going until we reached Bairnsdale. Just past Orbost the Princess Highway had given way after recent rains and while repairs were being undertaken a short detour had been constructed with traffic lights to control traffic. The cycle on the lights was about 5 minutes so we were not held up for too long.
We had made a reservation at the Bairnsdale Riverside Holiday Park, but could not find it on the GPS. When we eventually arrived at the Park we found that there had been a recent change of name from the Mitchell River Caravan Park. We were given the choice of sites and were soon set up for 2 nights.
As it was David's Birthday today we went for a walk around the Town Centre to check out the 45 eateries listed on Zomato. The list included every take-away in town but there turned out to be a few that showed promise. We settled on the Bistro at the Mitchell River Tavern which was within walking distance from the Caravan Park, and it turned out to be the top choice in town with quite a crowd of diners. We had a very good meal and a drink or two to celebrate.
No photos today.
