Tallebudgera Creek to Yamba

Day 101 - Tuesday 20 August 2013

Gold Coast - 9 to 22 degrees and sunny.

Yamba - 7 to 20 degrees and sunny.

We were on the road about 9:30 am after a visit to the dump point to empty the holding tanks. Shortly after leaving the caravan park we left the Gold Coast Highway to join the Pacific Highway for our 190 km trip to Yamba in NSW. The trip took a little longer than we expected as there were lots of road-works, particularly on the Byron Bay/Lennox Head By-pass. We stopped for a morning coffee at a rest area near Little Italy, and eventually arrived at the Blue Dolphin Caravan Park at Yamba at about 1:00 pm and booked in for three nights.

We were allocated a slab site and were all set-up by 2:00 pm. David had to get out the satellite dish as TV reception from Lismore is lousy. On the next site which is unoccupied we have two plovers riding shot-gun on a baby, which is apparently the last remaining from a clutch or four. After setting up we had a late lunch and went for a walk around the park to check out the facilities. The park is less than half full and no doubt we will find more of this as we venture south over the next three weeks.

Tallebudgera Creek - Day 9

Day 100 - Monday 19 August 2013

Another sunny day with a forecast temperature of 12 to 25 degrees.

Today we made a last visit to the Robina Shopping Centre so Di can do a bit more shopping before we move on further south tomorrow. We bought some papers then headed to Toscanis Restaurant on Level one - Di had a Greek Lamb Salad while David had a Pizza. After lunch David settled down with the papers while Di went shopping on her own. The Centre is full of little lounge areas generally populated by males whose wives have gone shopping.

On the way back to the caravan park we topped up with fuel and made a last visit to Woollies for groceries. Back at the caravan park we started the pack-up process to make for an easier get away in the morning. Our next stop will be Yamba for 3 nights, then we will move on to Nambucca Heads.

Tallebudgera Creek - Day 8

Day 99 - Sunday 18 August 2013

Another beautiful day in paradise - 14 to 25 degrees and mainly sunny.

After a slow start to the day with the weekend newspapers we walked around the caravan park to check on another Trailblazer 5th wheeler. They are the same size as us but do not have any slide-outs, but we were very interested in their annex. They have a Fiamma Annex attached to their Fiamma awning. We stopped for a chat and compared notes - The annex is specially designed for the awning and slides into the tracks and all the panels zip together. We are quite interested in the annex as we have been thinking about getting one for those times when we stay for a week or more in one spot.

After our chat we walked out to the end of the rock wall at Tallebudgera Creek. Being a sunny Sunday there were dozens of families with young children enjoying the sheltered swimming spots.

Tallebudgera Creek - Day 6

Day 97 - Friday 16 August 2013

Another fine sunny day today with a forecast temperature of 12 to 23 degrees.

Today Brendan and Lyn came to our place to have lunch with us at the caravan park. It was a beautiful day and we had an enjoyable lunch with a drink or two. Roasted butterflied lamb cooked on the Weber Baby Q with a garden salad and a pasta salad, and chocolate puddings with ice-cream and berry sauce.
