Dicky Beach - Day 12

Day 45 - Monday 11 August 2014

Another sunny day with a forecast maximum of 25 degrees.

Today we drove to Noosa to do the Noosa Ferry Cruise. An all day pass allows you to board at any of the seven stops and leave and re-join at any time of day. We decided to join the cruise at the Noosa Marina at Tewantin where the parking is easy, and get off at the Noosa Sheraton Resort. After walking up and down Hastings Street checking out the shops we decided to have lunch at the Noosa Beach House Restaurant. We caught the 3:00 pm ferry to go back to the Marina. The cruise comes with an entertaining commentary and we spent an enjoyable day on the water.

Dicky Beach - Day 11

Day 44 - Sunday 10 August 2014

Another fine day with a forecast maximum of 22 degrees.

Today we decided to do the Blackall Range Tourist Drive taking in Mapleton, Montville, Maleny, Witta, Conondale and Kenilworth. On the way up to Mapleton we stopped at the Dulong Lookout for a few photos. Next stop was Montville for Lunch and a browse around the shops. As we drove through Kenilworth we passed the showgrounds where perhaps a hundred motorhomes and caravans were camped - perhaps a caravan rally?

Dicky Beach - Day 10

Day 43 - Saturday 9 August 2014

Fine again and 22 degrees today.

Today we drove to the Strawberry Fields strawberry farm at nearby Palmview. We started with ice-creams, strawberry - what else - then wandered around the farm and watched people picking their own. The pick your own area was well picked over and ripe strawberries seemed few and far between, and as it made no difference to the price - $16.00 a kilo whether you had picked your own or not - we bought a pack of premium strawberries from the shop.

On the way back we called in to the Ettamogah Pub also at Palmview for a walk around.

That evening we went to our club - the Dicky Beach Surf Club for a few drinks and a meal. As usual the food was excellent and they had live music - a muso with a music machine, a guitar and a violin. Given that the audience were largely of the grey nomad variety they appreciated the music from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Dicky Beach - Days 8 & 9

Days 41 and 42 - Thursday and Friday 7/8 August 2014

More fine weather with temperatures still in the low twenties.

We spent two days relaxing in the sun and reading the papers. Apart from visits to the supermarket, another visit to Spotlight and a visit to Bunnings where we bought a small gas bottle to use with the Baby Q, so that we do not have to use the Barbie under the awning.

No photos.

Dicky Beach - Day 7

Day 40 - Wednesday 6 August 2014

Another sunny day with a forecast temperature of 21 degrees.

We were up early and on our way by 10:00 am for the Eumundi Markets. As usual the parking was well organised in the nearby paddocks at a cost of $5.00, up from $4.00 last year. We started with a walk around the Eumundi Market Square, then crossed the road to the Original Eumundi Markets. The Eumundi Market is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the Market Square is also open on Fridays. After wandering around the markets we stopped for lunch at the Fig Tree Café.
