Narooma Day 2

Saturday 17 September 2016

Fine and mainly sunny again today.

Today we drove to Central Tilba (a heritage listed town) and Bermagui, a fishing port south of Narooma. Bermagui has a safer bar-way than Narooma and is more popular with commercial fishing boats and liezure craft.

At Central Tilba we walked around the town and visited the ABC Cheese factory. At Bermagui we had lunch at the Fishermans Wharf and visited the Blue Pool.

Narooma Day 1

Friday 16 September 2016

Fine and mainly sunny today.

We were up early and on the road to Bega by 7:00 am. We arrived at the Nissan dealer in Bega at 8:00 am and they were able to look at the Navara while we went and had breakfast. A couple of hours later they rang to say that they had completed their inspection.

The Navara has a leaking exhaust manifold gasket (this is the third time). a worn alternator bearing with a bit of a rattle. and a worn air-conditioner compressor bearing. None of these issues require immediate repair, and they suggested that we wait until we get home to have any repairs carried out. In any event they would not be able to get parts until the following week by which time we would have moved on. We have decided to switch off the air-conditioner to prevent the electric clutch from switching in and out, and not to have the head-lights on during the day as has been our practice, to take the load off the alternator.

We arrived back at Narooma about lunch time and went for a drive around some of the tourist spots.

Kiama to Narooma

Thursday 15 September 2016

Maily fine and sunny for our 231 km trip from Kiama to Narooma.

The trip was generally uneventful with a slow climb and a steep descent near the Bulli Pass. The trucks and buses are required to use low gear on the descent and maintain a 40 kph speed limit. Every-one else is limited to 80 kph for the descent.

The last few days we have noticed that the Navara has been making a few whistling and rattling noises from under the bonnet. The choices to get a Nissan dealer to look at the vehicle was between Moruya, going back about 60 km, or Bega, going south 70 km. We rang Moruya but they could not fit us in until the following week, but a call to Bega gave us a booking for the following morning at 8:00 am.
